A Magdalene Dream

What is the Mary Magdalene's "way of the heart"? Some women in the Los Angeles Magdalene Circle are using the new "seven-fold" rosary  of the 7 Gospel Mysteries and the 7 Legendary Stories of Mary Magdalene  that Margaret Starbird developed and wrote about in  14 Steps To Awaken the Sacred Feminine: Women in the Circle of Mary Magdalene  and asking that question of themselves. To many women it sounds like a passive path, something they identify with the Virgin Mary and "being good". They, understandably, look at the history of the rosary and its prayers designed by a person who burned heretics, with it's adoration of  only one feminine element in the Christian story, and they wonder....how could this be for me? It helps to know that  counting things as a way to steady one's mind for contemplation is much older than Christianity. I wonder about the runes with their slash marks representing aspects of a spiritual philosophy. And I wonder about the Goddess Hestia, and her  energy of "hearth keeping", a way of inner contemplation  that often works in the physical world as "housekeeping".  These are other ways of re-establishing  balance and harmony in one's immediate surroundings, starting in one's heart.
One of the wonderfully sensitive women in the L.A. Magdalene Circle had a dream recently that she said I could share. I feel it's a good answer to the question of the strength of the Magdalene  way of the heart.  Here's the dream (in abbreviation) , " I went to a church where we were having a Magdalene Circle. Some men and women came in from the main sanctuary to hear our guest speaker. Joan was talking about something to do with medical instruments and then she introduced the Dahli Lama to us. He had on a beautiful gold brocade robe with a green band (like a stole) around the neck. He began talking and then opened his robe, letting it fall to reveal himself as an old woman. Completely naked and feeling very comfortable, she moved in the slow dance -like movements of Qigong.  As I watched I said to myself, 'oh , I get it...it's Dolly Lama.'   Dolly Lama then told a story which everyone was able to see as though it were projected on a screen. The backdrop of the story was 'the palace of the Kings'. There were two vigorous and athletic young thieves coming towards her to do her harm but her purposeful, dance-like movements created an invisible  energetic barrier  in front of her . The thieves couldn't reach her and they couldn't harm her because of this."
Wonderful dream, isn't it ?   It tells us we  can have the specific protection we might need at any time in our life. In this case, she offers a method for protection against thieving aggression from "the palace of the Kings". The method the dream recommends is to develop specific use of your energy through spiritual practices which focus on experiencing your spiritual energy in your body. The fact that its Qigong  means (to me anyway) that the practice of  Magdalene Sacred Union spirituality creates strength on the physical level and  it's  protective. Tai Chi and QiGong are  powerful because they engage a person's spiritual intent to be in harmony and balance in their physicality....a way of the heart's love for the body. This energy is a protection against "thieves"....those inward or outward who would steal  time/energy/money/life or anything from us.

Strong protective energy of the heart is meant to be a part of Christianity's story, and it is when it's told as a story of Sacred Union. In
Mysteries of the Bridechamber, The Initiation of Jesus and the Temple of Soloman, Victoria LePage talks about the sacred union of masculine and feminine energies as the source of Jesus' capacity to heal. She describes  a kind of secret society lineage of esoteric knowledge which Jesus was trying to make available to everyday, ordinary people. In a nutshell, it was the knowledge that the vibrational field created by spiritual practices "of the heart" is very much more powerful than ones which concentrate on mind development only. The physical heart is a powerful organ of intelligence and transformation and it is strengthened by spirtiual practices  that are heart oriented.  These just happen to coincide with the normal, everyday life activities of a woman's ordinary life. (and men too in  their search for a soul path)  That's why Margaret Starbird 's "Seven Gospel Mysteries" and the "Seven Legendary Mysteries" of Mary Magdalene's life are stories worth contemplating as a source of spiritual development and strength.
   ************

I know this picture is the Goddess Guadelupe and not meant to be the Magdalene, but tomorrow is Guadelupe's  day of honor and I like the strength in this picture. We can easily see  that a level of contemplation of the heart is necessary to establish dominion over the difficult energies of the world, just like in the dream.

Thanks, Karen, for commenting. I'm so glad you share my appreciation of   the dream. "A picture is worth a thousand words"  can be so true where dreams are concerned.  I feel so lucky to be in the position to hear other's dreams and to be trusted with them. I talked  with Ruth, the dreamer, about sharing this dream and that I thought it carried wisdom for others....I"m grateful to her for allowing me to pass it along.  There's alot more to be said about the power of the crone wisdom inside of us as we collectively come into that time of our lives.....  viva la "Dolly" !   And pass the dream along to anyone you think would like it.
Here's Sally's email  SallyANorton@sbcglobal.net    to contact her about the rosaries. And here's the website again for anyone who hasn't looked at them yet. www.rubylane.com/shops/sallynortonjewelrydesign
Maybe others have wisewoman dreams to share too.   xoJoan

I wish I had your ability to interpret dreams. They fascinate me but are like locked ciphers meant to tantalize without truly revealing their deepest meanings to me.

I'm encouraged by the dream to remember my Self as twin to my Body, both meaninful, both useful, both necessary.

I believe we need to cast aside the negative connotations of dualism that teach us to hate our sensual self before we can fully embrace the meaning of her dream.

I need to work on embracing my body once again. It deserves my love and caring. It has given so much for my well-being, including allowing me to express my spiritual Self in its ways.

      HiLore,
You got the flavor and the philosophy of the dream just right! I understand your frustration about the meanings in dreams. You're a study-ier of myths and dreams are versions  of myth and fairy tales, within the everyday circumstances we live in. My favorite books for learning about dreams are Marie Louise Von Franz's books on fairy tales ,The Feminine in Fairy Tales ,Individuation in Fairy Tales, Redemption in Fairy Tales, etc. And anything by Linda Leonard also. These books talk about the consciousness of the symbolism.
Big yes to what you say about embracing the body! We're all recovering in that, aren't we? With me, my body awareness ebbs and flows, and I'm grateful for the symptoms that focus my attention back on my body's well being. xoJoan

I have been so cut off from my meditative practices and I do believe in synchronicity which is why, after 2 years of struggling to find my own path (long story) I feel I'm receiving long-awaited answers and being given SPECIFIC directions on how to re-engage in the meditative process!

Hi Jen, That's wonderful...it's always amazing to me that "Ask and ye shall receive, knock and the door will be opened"  proves true over and over again. It sounds like you are watering your inner garden. xoJoan
