Mary Magdalene Circle this Saturday
Cynthia Jordan is hostessing on-line Magdalene Circles every 22nd of the month, which is next Saturday. We start at 12:00 Pacific Time, 2:00 Central Time, 3:00 Eastern Time. I have to write it really clearly like that because I get mixed up with the time zones. Cynthia's in Texas, which is interesting because there's another Magdalene Circle starting there too. Cynthia is a beautiful singer and composer and has written a wonderful song about Mary Magdalene, and I can say the same thing about the Laura Jablinski, who is starting the other circle in the Dallas area. I've talked before about creativity being inspired by participation in Magdalene Circles, but my experience has mostly been with painters and writers. I'm happy and intrigued that beautiful music is coming forth about Mary Magdalene and her Beloved.
I hope you will call in to the radio show on Saturday and participate with us. It's all about sharing and discovering what Mary Magdalene means to you. Here's the show's "Spiritually Speaking" website and here's the number to call in ... (347) 857-4868.

You can see more about Cynthia on her website here and more about Laura Jablinski on her website here. Laura has made it possible to listen to the "Song of Mary Magdalene" on her site, as well as a very awesome "Ave Maria". Goodness, what abundance of the feminine spirit through music! Cynthia is putting together a CD of songs and music which can be used in Magdalene Circles as beautiful background. You might have heard it when we did our first on-line Magdalene Circle for Magdalene Feast Day in July. There's a soft beautiful Celtic feel to her music which is what I always gravitated to in my own Magdalene Circle. We would leave the music on really low when we did the guided journey meditations. "Breathe deeply......feel the warmth and securtiy of your body on the chair, in the safety of this room...Breathe....You yourself are the chalice we speak of, the sacred vessel of life ever-renewing...known as the alabaster jar...."
On next Saturday's on-line Magdalene Circle I'll be talking a little bit from Lesson 2, "I Thought She Was a Prostitute from Magdala". I know we all know this isn't true but the business of her name "Magdalene" always needs more clarifying. Maybe one day there won't be tourist buses going to the wrong place and saying the wrong things about Mary Magdalene. Maybe they will be going to the village of Bethany on the eastern slope of the Mount of Olives and talking about the Mystery of the Sacred Union which took place there.

Compelling picture, isn't it? Imagine this is her home and imagine the sense of "queendom" a woman feels in her own home. I think this painting conveys that feeling well. This time as I look at it I see the scowly-faced figure on the left side with his back turned and his hand held out in a certain gesture. It reminds me of the hand across her throat gesture in DaVinci's Last Supper . She's been waiting a long time to have her marriage recognized.
Are you on Facebook? I'm there, Sally and her rosaries are there, Margaret Starbird is there, Laura Jablinsky is there, many of you who I communicate with are there too. Look us up, it's a wonderful way to share things visually. If you are painting Sacred Union stories, like Sheila Greer is, you can post albums of your paintings on your Facebook page so we can all share in them. The internet is surely "Sophia's Web" of connectedness between all things.
I just found a great art resource website called ArtMagick.... here's a picture called "The Soul of the Rose" by Waterhouse in 1908. Surely "a Magdalene".

Hi Joan...The painting, "The Soul of the Rose" literally took my breath away..so happy you provided it to all of us....through research and legend we know the rose often symbolized Mary Magdelene and then of course the artist's redition of the lady's hair; dark-golden sienna like Mary's;...I think he was saying, "I know what you Know!"..but so many of us cannot wait to tune into next Saturday's Magdelene Circle...I will be calling,,, hope I have the opportunity to go on air with comments..//going into an emotional "cave" for about a month..in a few weeks will have Facebook and my website back up and running with new photos and paintings..flying to Spokane, Wa 09.14-09.17 for a visit to Coeur D'Alene, Id where my sister and I were born...09.06 is the first anniversary of our beloved mother's passing..wanted to get in touch with the happiest memories of my childhood..want to feel and give thanksgiving...blessings...: )...
