The World Can't See the Light But Through the Eye of The Magdalene
If it was Mary Magdalene who saw the Light and told the tale....then we have to say "The world can't see the Light but through the eye of the Magdalene."

Darkness preceded her experience of seeing the Light and experiencing the enlightenment. She is Autumn which loses the Light, Winter which "perceiveth it not", and Solstice where the Light comes again. Light is surely part of the iconography of Mary Magdalene. She follows her own love and her own life's journey through descent and darkness and then the Light comes again, new life awakens. When Jesus said, "Do this in memory of her", he may as well have been telling followers to observe the eternal mystery of "light and dark", heaven and earth", masculine and feminine", for along with the "her" he's referring to come these patterns of life and consciousness.

Her alabaster jar is a cauldron image, a symbol of the eternal quest to understand the energies behind all creation. The cauldron is a womb symbol, where and how Creation is created. All that is in her alabaster jar, including the potential for Light. The potential for enlightenment. The Church of Enlightenment it was called before the Inquisition made personal enlightenment a death sentence.
X's side by side told the tale of the Sacred Union which carries the potential of enlightenment...as well as happiness on earth. Halos also represent a relationship to Light and enlightenment, although none will deny their misuse on questionably "sainted" people. Earlier than the christian phase of our spiritual evolution we had Goddess images of enlightenment (of course!), in such iconography as "the eternal flame" of Brigid/Bride. Look at her and see if you don't feel the Magdalene's presence. I don't mean to offend anyone with that, because she is beloved and doesn't need to be connected to Mary Magdalene to have her spiritual place. It's the other way around, we need to see Mary Magdalene as an evolution of Brigid/Bride/Goddess. I think it felt that way in the earliest of days when tales were told of Jesus in the holy land of Albion. Where is his Goddess? would be the natural question, just as it was to those who knew The Song of Solomon in Jesus' hometown.
Here are some Brigid images where she has her eternal flame, her doves, her halo, her community(the building), and her staff of leadership. Maybe we should give that one to Mary Magdalene to hold as well.

These are eternal images of the Sacred Feminine. I'm not making a new observation when I point them out. But we have been bullied into thinking we don't have them in Mary Magdalene and her story of Sacred Union. We've also been bullied into thinking Jesus didn't mean for us to have her as Goddess. Remember that the actual "framers of the gospels" put much Eternal Mystery in their documents. Symbolic representations of the great philosophical and spiritual truths which held that all creation is a result of the polarity of opposites, masculine-feminine being the most central. They coded it into their phrases and their choice of letters in those phrases. Jesus was identified as God/Messiah and Mary Magdalene was identified as Goddess. And their Sacred Union is God amongst us already.

On Thursday October 22, 9-11 Pacific Time (and podcast for later listening) we will have our regular online Magdalene Circle with Lerin Winter and Cynthia Jordan. I'm so enjoying these two women! The questions and topics and conversation go deep and that's what everyone wants, don't you think? Our topic is Lesson 1 in 14 Steps To Awaken The Sacred Feminine: Women in the Circle of Mary Magdalene, which is called "It Was Foretold". It's about the prophecies that told people Mary Magdalene was to be expected. I want to talk about prophecy in general as well, what we might know as intuition. Please call in and be a part of our conversation or listen in . Being a part of the talk doesn't mean you have to have a lot to say.... listening and occasionally responding is great.
Also, I'm getting ready to enjoy a wonderful nourishing 3 days at a conference to celebrate "Madonnas, Marys, Eternal Maternals, Goddess-with-Us" in San Francisco on November 6-8. It's the most reasonably priced conference I've ever seen! So if you need to give yourself a present.... come to San Francisco.

That torch sure looks like the one carried by the Statue of Liberty. Interesting that "liberty" should in this way be associated with The Magdalene!

Hi Sandra, That is really true, it's a similar idea to the never-extinguishing flame. The fire aspect of the goddess's capabilities for humankind. We don't usually think of the leadership to "light the way" as feminine. But now , of course, we're thinking that way. And glad she'll have a grounded, partnered masculine who loves her.
Thanks for being here. xoJoan
